APOG Annual Meeting
Each year in June, APOG conducts its typical (3) day duration annual meeting at a host utility site. Members wishing to have their site vie for meeting hosting rights are required to submit a standardized site attributes form to the Chairperson no later than 9 months in advance of the next meeting. The form requires potential sites to list their venue’s unique capabilities as well as information pertaining to lodging, transportation, site/meeting facility access and extracurricular activities in and around the area. The Chairperson assembles and disburses a ballot based on the site submittals and tabulates the voting results to determine the winning host for the next meeting. As compensation for the accrued costs of hosting (lunches, beverages, snacks, pre-print copies, etc.) the meeting, the host site has that years annual membership dues waived.
The annual meeting is open to utility members and non-members alike. Non-member utility employees can attend an APOG meeting one time at no cost to assess its value. After that, a utility employee must have his or her site join APOG to continue attending the annual meetings and reaping the benefits of the group.
Vendors, consultants, regulators and other non-utility employees are welcome to attend APOG meetings as often as they wish. As non-members, these individuals do not have access to the publications of APOG, it’s website, or the utility employees only closed sessions that are conducted at the annual meeting. An affiliate membership status, which is offered only to vendors and consultants and not utility employees or regulators, provides an enhanced level of APOG participation and is only available through an application and approval process.
All APOG meeting attendees are strongly encouraged to make informal presentations related to Appendix J program testing experiences, administration, lessons learned, new and innovative test methods and products, recent regulatory issues and a host of other information sharing topics. First time presenters who are utility employees that are not APOG members have their non-member meeting fee waived. This is a one time exemption.
